Soul Sidekick

Art designed to delight, illuminate and nourish the soul

Marianne O’Neil is a successful entrepreneur, mixed media artist, and painter living in Ohio with her husband, Michael and their charismatic rescue Cairn terrier, MacDara.

Nature, animals, and adventures shared with family and friends inspire most of her paintings. Her current work is focused on translating the love people share for their animals to artistic applications.

Inspiration comes often from my appreciation of nature, time spent with pets and wildlife and observing people while finding the beauty in the mundane. Creating has always been my passion. My father was a professional artist and my mother was a prolific crafter long before crafting was popularized. My fondest childhood memories are uninterrupted hours either painting with my father while studying his techniques on canvas or creating a unique collection of creatures made out of paper mache, fabric scraps and found objects from the yard with my mother.

I want to create art that triggers a spark of meaning and hope in others; creations that silently draw out and validate their unique spirit. Expressing myself through art has given me a means of communicating.

As a licensing artist, technology and reproduction techniques make it possible to speak to an unlimited and unknown amount of people.

My thrill comes with the realization that my unique language is expressed on one canvas then shared in all its detail with people I may never meet in the remotest corner of our country. To the person that understands my language, I have communicated a smile, maybe sparked their imagination, or connected with them emotionally. I have shared an image that celebrates the soulful genius within the ordinary.

Custom Painting of your pet or a custom painted portrait cut out on wood

Just email me your favorite photo of your pet and if you like, tell me his favorite activity or toy and I can either paint a portrait on canvas or cut out a wood silhouette and paint a portrait.

Please let me know if your order is time sensitive. Orders are painted on a first come first serve basis. There can be orders already in the studio. A portrait takes 3 to 4 weeks depending on commissioned orders in studio at the time.
